What is the difference between an F-4C and an F4D?

The USAF relegated most of the F-4Cs to a ground attack role, while the F-4Ds were used for air-to-air interception duties. Its weapons included the usual AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, but the F-4D could also launch the unsuccessful Falcon missiles. Both F-4C and F-4D did not have a canon.
