Yes worth it as you are so close. The trees are bigger and more impressive and groves are bigger. You can make a weekend trip or longer. Check out the coast as well.

We spent most of the day driving through and walking trails around these wonderful ancient redwoods. It is absolutely a must see for anyone able to be there. There is nothing like standing in the ancient quiet of this place.
